Computer Hardware, OS, and Software The Hardware you use should be capable of running the OS and Software you choose and handle the file sizes you create. The Operating System should provide a stable platform and an interface for you to access your files and programmes, that is all it needs to do. The Software should enable you to carry out the tasks you need to work on your images.

From the list of computer equipment you will see that you don't need a MAC to work on your pictures most photographers don't use MAC.
A Personal Computer is the hardware that lets you load the Operating System.
The Operating System allows you to run the Programs you need - neither of these effect the quality of the images produced.

Technique and good file preparation are more important than equipment or software.
